Children at School 21 make rapid progress in the basics.

In reading, writing and numeracy our children make accelerated progress, starting school below the national average but reaching the end of Reception well above.

The reason for this is that we have a structured morning of learning in which all children get substantial amounts of time to focus on phonics (the decoding of language), reading (with exciting story-telling opportunities each day) writing (they write every day), oracy (learning how to speak and communicate) and numeracy.

In addition every child develops their character - learning how to work in a team, make friends with other children, reflect on their learning and bounce back from set-backs.
