Science Teacher (Chemistry)

Salary: Inner London (competitive based on skills and experience)
Start date: September 2022 or January 2023
Contract: Full time, permanent, subject to an enhanced DBS check

School 21 is one of the most exciting schools in the country, pioneering a range of powerful approaches to the curriculum and teaching.  This is a great time to join a science department that teaches science from 4 to 18. Whether your interest is teaching A level chemistry, inspiring pupils in our middle school or developing deep thinking in our secondary school across all science disciplines, School 21 is a place where there is a rich and exciting mix of ideas about the best pedagogies and curriculum. Ideally, you will be an experienced A-level chemistry teacher and it is essential that you have a passion for developing the best pedagogy for GCSE and A level but applications from outstanding ECTs are also welcomed.

Science comes alive at School 21 as students grapple with the big ideas that underpin the world around us. Teachers plan challenging and exciting projects, develop thinking skills to a high level and foster scientific enquiry.

School 21 is a very special and different kind of place to work in.  All of us are striving to become pioneers (rethinking key aspects of education practice), multipliers (growing others and building teams), craftspeople (who think deeply about their practice) and people with integrity and humanity (driven by a strong sense of values and purpose).  This is what we are looking for in new members of staff.   We empower staff to find their voice and their creativity.   We offer collaboration and learning across ages and subjects.  We believe strongly in developing the full potential of all staff.

Within the sixth form, we will seek to pair students with experts and experienced professionals in various scientific fields to undertake research, on-site projects, or work placements. Our aim here will be to stretch our students beyond the A-level course and to give them opportunities to experience science at the cutting edge of discovery. You will work alongside the other science teachers in an inspirational department to develop the curriculum and schemes of work. You will analyse student data to identify underachievement and develop intervention strategies to ensure all students make outstanding progress.
