Head of Science
Salary: Inner London (competitive based on skills and experience)
Start date: September 2019 (with earlier planning, training and induction)
Contract: Full time, permanent, subject to an enhanced DBS check
This is your chance to lead a great Science department at School 21. Your task will
be to provide vision, curriculum design and team building skills for the science
department, working directly from Year 5 upwards and in partnership with the
primary school. You will also have the task of securing very strong outcomes at Year 11 and Year 13.
The team you will be leading has a thirst for learning, is highly reflective and enjoys
collaboration. You will have the chance to develop and shape Science in each phase
of the school.
Science is brought to life at School 21 as students grapple with the big ideas that
govern how the world works. Teachers plan exciting and challenging lessons,
enquiries and projects that support students to develop scientific thinking and
methodologies. There is a strong focus on oracy in Science lessons with high quality talk aiding deeper understanding of difficult problems and concepts.
We are looking for an agile leader who will be able to develop further the rich
Science curriculum, ground students in the foundations and key concepts of science, deliver problem-solving projects and contribute to STEM and other cross-curricular projects. You will be open to the notion that advancements in new technology mean we may be able to rethink the pedagogy and curriculum of science.
