Dr Nicola Mason appointed new headteacher of School 21
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Nicola Mason as the new headteacher of School 21.
Nicola has had an exciting and varied career. State school educated, the first in her family to go to University, she became a research scientist working before moving into teaching.
Nicola is an experienced headteacher with a track record of ensuring academic success, high quality teaching and learning and an education that develops the whole child. Starting her career in London, Nicola taught for several years on the Isle of Wight before moving internationally, where she held the Head of Secondary role in a school in Malaysia and is currently leading a 3 to 18 British International school in Portugal.
Nicola brings a wealth of experience of different practices that we know will enrich School 21 as it moves forward - learning the lessons from lockdown and building on its success developing an expansive curriculum including oracy, wellbeing and interdisciplinary learning.
Nicola will be joining Big Education, at an exciting time, with the opening of its new primary school, School 360 in September, as well as the expansion of its leadership programme, and the momentum behind Rethinking Assessment, a coalition to rethink our exam system.
Nicola will start at the beginning of the school year in September.
