English Language is at the heart of School 21, a pioneering school for 4 to 18 year olds. This is your chance to join a brilliant team of teachers who think deeply about their craft and who shape a curriculum that brings alive the finest literature and the most powerful ideas. We help young people develop as writers, exploring creativity, discernment and precision. Ideally you will be an experienced GCSE and/or A-level English teacher who will bring English alive for all students and who inspires children to read great literature. You will facilitate rich and challenging projects that allow students to combine detailed knowledge with a range of 21st century skills and attributes.
English teachers have opportunities to teach in our middle school (years 5 to 8), secondary school (9-11) and sixth form and enjoy teaching discrete English lessons but also working closely with other subject disciplines, to produce books, campaigns, exhibitions and powerful learning experiences.
Since we opened in 2012 we have put learning and teaching at the heart of everything we do. We have developed a unique approach to oracy including setting up a charity, Voice 21 (https://www.voice21.org/) which is already working with several hundred schools. We have also pioneered real world, interdisciplinary learning in collaboration with a network of extraordinary organisations: creative, artistic, high tech, professional.
