Middle School Lead Maths teacher

Salary: Inner London (competitive based on skills and experience)

Start date: September 2017 (with earlier planning, training and induction)
Contract: Full time, permanent, subject to an enhanced DBS check 

This is a special opportunity to lead and shape Maths in School 21’s middle school which will span year 5 to year 8. You will combine the best of maths mastery with the best of problem solving. You will collaborate with primary and secondary colleagues who will both bring different perspectives on numeracy and mathematical understanding. More broadly, you will be a forefront of a new a model of education that seeks to enliven the curriculum between primary and secondary, ensuring there are no wasted years.


Maths is brought to life at School 21 as students grapple with the big ideas and concepts that govern how the world works. Teachers plan exciting and challenging lessons, enquiries and projects that support students to develop a problem solving toolkit. Across the school the beauty and complexity of maths is celebrated.


We are looking for an inspirational leader who will be able to create an exciting Maths curriculum at a time when children are eager to learn and inspired by the symmetry of maths and its real world application. You will have the skill to move students seamlessly from the concrete to the abstract and have a strong understanding of global best practice across the age ranges. You will be open to the notion that advancements in new technology mean we may be able to rethink the pedagogy and curriculum of maths.
