Numeracy

At School 21 we follow the Mathematics Mastery programme which supports our vision perfectly.

Aims of Maths mastery:

  • To provide children with a strong foundation of the basics.

  • To ensure all children develop a strong sense of number.

  • To create confident, eloquent mathematicians.

  • To allow children to become confident in strategies and methods in order to generalise to different problems.

  • To teach children in how to select and use resources to support their working.

  • To provide differentiation within class with all children moving broadly at the same pace.

Background

Maths mastery is there to support the teaching of maths at School 21. Our lessons follow a 6-part structure, allowing children time to talk, practice and develop their skills in every lesson that takes place.
