We are looking for an excellent food technology teacher who is passionate about their
subject area and ready to develop their practice in a dynamic and innovative teaching

Since first introducing food technology into the curriculum two years ago, the subject has
become increasingly popular with a growing number of students choosing to study it at Key
Stage 4. Last year, some of our Hospitality and Catering students were accepted onto the
Junior Chef Academy weekend cookery school at Westminster Kingsway College and were
so inspired that they have chosen to continue their studies Post-16. We also offer cooking
projects within Curriculum 21, a timetabled period of 200-minutes a week dedicated to
real-world projects that encourage students to make a difference to their community and
demonstrate entrepreneurship. We are particularly interested in developing more
interdisciplinary projects in Curriculum 21 that includes initiatives such as using our
allotment to run ‘seed-to-plate’ projects, but ultimately looking for a candidate that has
ideas and drive to bring the subject alive through projects.

The ideal candidate would have experience of teaching food technology at Key Stage 4 as
the role would include a TLR for developing our L1/2 Hospitality & Catering qualification,
whilst also shaping the general curriculum in food technology. You will have sole use of our
kitchen classroom, which is one of a number of specialist spaces within the Art, Design and
Technology (ADT) department, of which you would be a valued member. You can find out
more about the department at: www.s21art.weebly.com
