How can we represent the world through patterns?

Project Overview

‚Äč

For this project the year one children have been looking at patterns from all over the world. Over the term, they have researched information about different continents focusing on the traditional patterns of specific countries. The children have recreated these patterns in different art forms including: Rangoli patterns using felt tips,  Maasai patterns on the iPad, Polish Folk Art using paper craft, and North American patterns using paint. The children then chose their favourite pattern to recreate on perspex and, as a class, we put these all together to form a globe that depicts a cultural celebration of all the continents through patterns.
